DIR® Floortime can be beneficial for children as young as infancy through to adulthood, especially if they are showing signs of developmental delay, challenges with regulation, or difficulties with communication and play. Intervention can be provided even at two months of age when the interaction between the caregiver and the infant are not in sync.
At Paths 2 Communication, we work with infants, toddlers, children and into the teen years during the most critical stages of development. This builds strong foundations for lifelong communication and connection.
Parents play an essential role in every DIR® Floortime session. We work collaboratively with caregivers to identify successful communication for the child's stage of development and guide interactions in ways that strengthen your connection with your child.
Sessions are individualized to your child’s needs and often include hands-on coaching, feedback, and at-home activity suggestions. Our goal is to empower families with tools to support development beyond the session.
Yes. We have advanced training in working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as those with other communication and developmental differences.
DIR® Floortime is a research-supported, relationship-based approach that helps autistic children build communication, regulation, and social-emotional skills through meaningful interactions.
The length of the DIR® Floortime program varies based on your child’s unique profile and developmental goals. Some families see progress in a few months, while others choose to continue for a year or more. DIR is a developmental model, so it meets the child where they are and builds skills into adulthood.
We provide personalized recommendations based on regular assessments, your family’s needs, and your child’s growth.
Absolutely. DIR® Floortime is an interdisciplinary approach and can be successfully combined with other therapies such as speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy and ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) when done in a respectful, child-centered way.
At Paths 2 Communication, we often collaborate with other professionals to create a well-rounded, integrated therapy plan that supports your child from all angles.
